MINI KITCHEN MAKEOVER

Hello there!  Yes, it’s been a while.  It has also been a crazy year giving me no time to post, which is why I will start with an apology and then follow up by letting you know that our kitchen is almost done!  After living in our house for one year, I finally decided to tackle the kitchen makeover and I’m really happy with how it turned out.

CHRISTMAS DÉCOR—WORK WITH WHAT YOU HAVE

christmas decorating

I will start this post by admitting that I am a holiday addict.  Doesn’t matter the holiday, I will find a way to celebrate as long as it’s part of my traditions.  Christmas is no different, this year being our first Christmas in our new house!  I was hoping to go crazy with the décor, but it seemed like a lot of work.  Guess we’ll leave that for 2017.

STYLING NOVEMBER

dog

And just like that… it’s November.  How did we get here so fast?  It feels like yesterday was April and flowers were blooming.  Now all the leaves are falling and it’s getting colder by the second.  Time really does fly when you’re over 30.  I mean, 20.  😉

This month is super exciting because we get to host Friendsgiving (yearly tradish) for the first time in our new home!  It’s the only reason I don’t decorate for Christmas until after.  But how do you decorate for that time between Halloween and Christmas?  Easy… leave the pumpkins and fall décor, and take out the Halloween accessories.  Violà!  Scroll down to check out some small changes I made, including adding that beautiful wool throw we picked up while in Iceland.  Enjoy!

INCORPORATE FALL TOUCHES TO YOUR HOME

fall

Ladies and gentlemen, autumn has officially begun!  For us here at the Poiesz household, September marks the beginning of “Decorating Season” and I couldn’t be more excited.  There’s just something about this time of year that makes my heart happy.  Maybe it’s how the season brings everyone together or the fact that it’s no longer burning hot outside.  Whatever the case is, it’s a magical time that comes with its own set of traditions.

KITCHEN INSPIRATION: FRENCH, TUSCAN & SPANISH TRADITIONAL

Black_And_White_Kitchen_Jessica_Helgersonsource

When I think about our kitchen, I think about our happy place.  It is that one room where I spend A LOT of time in, whether I’m home alone with the pup, with my husband, or with friends and family.  The kitchen is a special place that brings everyone together, and that is why it has to be both beautiful and functional.

BREAKFAST NOOK TABLE REFRESH

Today I want to show you a little makeover I did to our breakfast nook table and chairs!  We bought this table at the Nashville Flea Market when we had just moved to Nashville.  After moving to our new house, I noticed it was in desperate need of some major TLC.

OUR KITCHEN PROGRESS: PHOTOS AND PLANS

When we bought our house, we knew we wanted something that was move-in ready, but also gave us the option to update what we wanted—within reason.  Buying a house is a HUGE expense and we knew there were going to be two types of projects: short term projects and down the line when we’re super rich projects.  How do you prioritize?  Well, we are still trying to figure this one out, so we started with our favorite room: the kitchen.

HOME STYLE: ASTRID INSIEME

living room

A while back, when I first created our Instagram page, I stumbled upon this very colorful feed I just could not get over.  It was interior decorator, Astrid Insieme.  After scrolling through her feed like a legit stalker, I decided to contact Astrid in hopes that she would let me feature her house and I came to find out that she is not only an amazing decorator with the coolest style, but that she is the sweetest person!
