4 STEP FOYER UPDATE

foyer

We made it to August folks!  In one month we can decorate for fall without the guilt.  This year I promised not to get ahead of myself, which is why I wanted to give our foyer attention.  I call it, “I need a distraction because I miss fall, but I can’t decorate for it yet because it’s ridiculous.”  All jokes aside, this room came together accidentally—I didn’t set out to decorate it, it just sort of happened.  So I wanted to share the 4 accidental steps I took to style our foyer.

CHRISTMAS DÉCOR—WORK WITH WHAT YOU HAVE

christmas decorating

I will start this post by admitting that I am a holiday addict.  Doesn’t matter the holiday, I will find a way to celebrate as long as it’s part of my traditions.  Christmas is no different, this year being our first Christmas in our new house!  I was hoping to go crazy with the décor, but it seemed like a lot of work.  Guess we’ll leave that for 2017.

INCORPORATE FALL TOUCHES TO YOUR HOME

fall

Ladies and gentlemen, autumn has officially begun!  For us here at the Poiesz household, September marks the beginning of “Decorating Season” and I couldn’t be more excited.  There’s just something about this time of year that makes my heart happy.  Maybe it’s how the season brings everyone together or the fact that it’s no longer burning hot outside.  Whatever the case is, it’s a magical time that comes with its own set of traditions.

OUR DINING ROOM PROGRESS: PHOTOS AND PLANS

dining room

When we discussed our “musts” when it came to buying a house, one of the top 3 was a formal dining room.  We both grew up with big families and dinner around the table, and this was something we weren’t going to budge on.  The house we ended up buying has the most beautiful dining room and it was a strong selling point.  We love the height, the molding, the natural light, the open space… we love all of it!  That doesn’t mean this room didn’t come with its own set of challenges.

HOME STYLE: CARLA DAVIS

living room

Today I would like to welcome to the blog one of my favorite submissions yet!  Carla Davis reached out to me with a photo of her living room enclosed.  Once I saw it I had to do a double take.  Is that a disco ball I see?  Is this real?!  I immediately knew her home would be the right fit for our u style series.

ONE STEP TO A STAIRCASE MAKEOVER

staircase

Moving into a house has its challenges.  Choosing the correct paint for each little (or big) thing is one of them.  When we first saw our house we noticed that even though the foyer is medium-size, the entire area seems very majestic with the molding, chandelier and 19′ ceiling.  It’s very open and we knew that whatever we ended up doing with this space needed to complement the dining room and the living room.

HOME STYLE: ASTRID INSIEME

living room

A while back, when I first created our Instagram page, I stumbled upon this very colorful feed I just could not get over.  It was interior decorator, Astrid Insieme.  After scrolling through her feed like a legit stalker, I decided to contact Astrid in hopes that she would let me feature her house and I came to find out that she is not only an amazing decorator with the coolest style, but that she is the sweetest person!
