SECRET TO WATERING A FIDDLE LEAF FIG TREE & PERUVIAN CACTUS

Styling weapon number one: plants.  All decorators, stylists and interior designers rely on plants to bring life to a space.  We all love them—real or fake—but some can’t manage to keep them alive!  Let me tell you a little secret…there isn’t one rule for keeping plants alive.  Sure, there are several things that are basic knowledge, like water and sunlight, but it also depends on the environment the plant is in.

SUNDAY FUNDAY STYLE

fashion

It’s spring, my friends!  I LIVE for the weekends when you can finally wear a tank top, sit outside, enjoy a cold one with some friends, and not freeze to death.  Sunday is my relax day since I usually spend Saturdays working and I am no different than everyone else—I like to enjoy it by hosting some friends over and laughing until it hurts!

ONE STEP TO A STAIRCASE MAKEOVER

staircase

Moving into a house has its challenges.  Choosing the correct paint for each little (or big) thing is one of them.  When we first saw our house we noticed that even though the foyer is medium-size, the entire area seems very majestic with the molding, chandelier and 19′ ceiling.  It’s very open and we knew that whatever we ended up doing with this space needed to compliment the dining room and the living room.

HOW WE CHOSE THE RIGHT SIZE RUG FOR OUR LIVING ROOM

living room

I’m not a rule-follower by any means.  If you know me well enough, you’ll quickly find out that I’m just not a fan of them.  There are many rules when it comes to decorating, styling and interior design that people follow religiously.  Even though they’re there to make things generally look good, some I believe can be adjusted to fit your needs and the needs of your home—finding the right size rug for your living room is one of them.

MY SPRING WEEKEND OUTFIT FORMULA

weekend outfit

Only one word comes to my mind when I think about the a typical spring weekend—comfort.  After an entire week of dressing up for work, it’s kind of liberating to be able to kick off my high heels, take off my makeup, and let my hair get messy.  Not to mention that it’s getting hotter by the second here in Nashville!  I swear, this past weekend I thought for sure I was going to melt away.  Luckily, growing up in a tropical island has its perks, like learning how to look cute without feeling like you’re about to pass out from heat exhaustion. 🙂

U STYLE CHALLENGE: STYLE A BAR YOUR WAY

bar cart stylingsource

It’s that time again!  Today we are giving you a quick look into how some of our readers are styling their bars.  Ever sense the bar cart became a popular trend a few years ago, it seems like every house you go to has one.  I’m kind of guilty of this too!  (Do bar shelves count?)  What’s practical about a bar is that it serves a purpose.  What’s fun about a bar is…well…everything!  You can do with it whatever you like, you can place it in any room (not the bedroom, please), and you can add lots of personal touches.  There basically is no right or wrong with styling a bar.  Unless you want to use it to keep your folded socks.  That’s not a cool visual.

WEDDING PLANNING: HOW TO MAKE IT ABOUT “US”

i style, u style wedding

By now you may be aware that I’m a newlywed.  (AHHH!)  If you’ve been following along on Instagram since i style, u style launched last year, then you’re more than familiar with my gazillion posts on our road to marriage.  It was a long year and five months of being engaged, and throughout that time we lived and breathed our wedding.  Today, six months and one day into our marriage, instead of a 10-step “how to” post, I wanted to write about my experience with planning a wedding that looked and felt like us.

U STYLE CHALLENGE: SHELF STYLING

shelf stylingsource

If you scrolled through my Instagram feed you will notice that I’m a huge shelfie enthusiast.  There’s nothing better than a well styled shelf to make my eyes go gaga.  As much as I love the idea of styling shelves to perfection, it’s not the general look of them that catch my attention, it’s the details.
