BATHROOM MAKEOVER IN 5 EASY STEPS

FullSizeRender_1

Bathrooms are by far the easiest rooms to decorate.  Even though some may disagree (which is more than OK), the reason why they’re easy to decorate is because you always think of accessibility first and then the design.  You want to make sure that everything you need in the morning before you leave the house is front and center, and whether you realize it or not, you always decorate around that.

Black_And_White_Kitchen_Jessica_Helgersonsource

When I think about our kitchen, I think about our happy place.  It is that one room where I spend A LOT of time in, whether I’m home alone with the pup, with my husband, or with friends and family.  The kitchen is a special place that brings everyone together, and that is why it has to be both beautiful and functional.

OUR DINING ROOM PROGRESS: PHOTOS AND PLANS

dining room

When we discussed our “musts” when it came to buying a house, one of the top 3 was a formal dining room.  We both grew up with big families and dinner around the table, and this was something we weren’t going to budge on.  The house we ended up buying has the most beautiful dining room and it was a strong selling point.  We love the height, the molding, the natural light, the open space… we love all of it!  That doesn’t mean this room didn’t come with its own set of challenges.

OUTDOOR INSPIRATION: PROVENCE, FRANCE

provence outdoorssource

When I think about being outdoors, I immediately fantasize about being in the south of France sitting outside with my feet touching the gravel, while surrounded by olive trees and lavender, sipping on rosé.  I know this dream sounds far-fetched being that I live in Nashville, TN, but I believe that I can use this as inspiration for our backyard and patio.  You gotta start somewhere, right?

HOW TO STYLE A GENDER-NEUTRAL MANTLE: PART 2

gender-neutral mantle

I guess by now it’s safe to say that I am very into gender-neutral everything.  For me it is as simple as I live with a man and want our home to look like us, and not me.  Meaning, I want our home to look like both a man and a woman live there.  This is something that most people really don’t think about when decorating their spaces.  Let’s face itwhen you live with a man, it’s the woman who mostly does the shopping and decorating, and this is where girly everything starts.

HOME STYLE: CARLA DAVIS

living room

Today I would like to welcome to the blog one of my favorite submissions yet!  Carla Davis reached out to me with a photo of her living room enclosed.  Once I saw it I had to do a double take.  Is that a disco ball I see?  Is this real?!  I immediately knew her home would be the right fit for our u style series.

OUR WEDDING CAKE | DESSERT TABLE

wedding cake table

Hello there, friends!  Today I’m going to share with you a little more on our wedding décor and styling.  As a stylist and decorator, this was my favorite part and one that inspired me to provide this service to other couples!  A few weeks back I opened up about our wedding planning process, and how we came up with the general look and feel of the décor.  This was quite simple because once we found the venue everything else fell into place.  Because the venue is so beautiful and didn’t need much decorating, we decided to create a few vignettes—our favorite being the cakes table!

SECRET TO WATERING A FIDDLE LEAF FIG TREE & PERUVIAN CACTUS

Styling weapon number one: plants.  All decorators, stylists and interior designers rely on plants to bring life to a space.  We all love them—real or fake—but some can’t manage to keep them alive!  Let me tell you a little secret…there isn’t one rule for keeping plants alive.  Sure, there are several things that are basic knowledge, like water and sunlight, but it also depends on the environment the plant is in.
